US manufacturing growth continues

The US manufacturing sector continued to expand in September.

The ISM Manufacturing Index fell 0.1 points to 54.5 but remained in expansion territory for the ninth consecutive month. New orders increased, while production continued to grow at a slower pace.

Manufacturing employment also increased for a third consecutive month, marking the longest uninterrupted period of job growth since 2022. However, cost pressures on manufacturers intensified, with the raw materials price indicator rising to its highest level since May. In September, 12 manufacturing industries recorded growth, including electrical equipment, primary metals and machinery.
