US and China agree on new trade arrangement

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that the two countries had agreed on a new trade arrangement during his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington.

Xi said the consensus reached in talks between the economic and trade teams was positive for people, businesses, and the global economy. The two sides also agreed to extend the temporary trade truce, which was due to expire on November 10, until January 2027.

Xi emphasized the need to expand areas of cooperation in economic relations with the US and reduce disagreements. Artificial intelligence was also among the key topics discussed, with Xi saying the two countries could cooperate in the field despite competition and strengthen dialogue to prevent the misuse of AI.
