U.S. private sector employment beats expectations

U.S. private sector employment increased by 86,000 jobs in October, exceeding market expectations of 67,000.

According to data released by the ADP Research Institute, employment growth continued for a second consecutive month, while September's figure was revised down from 90,000 to 86,000. The figures indicated that the U.S. labor market remains resilient despite economic uncertainty.

Of the jobs added in October, 82,000 were in the services sector, while 4,000 were in goods-producing industries. Annual base pay growth stood at 4.8% for job changers and 3% for employees who remained in their positions. ADP Chief Economist Nela Richardson noted that hiring continued across businesses of all sizes. The stronger-than-expected employment data is being closely monitored for its implications for Federal Reserve (Fed) interest rate policy, while market attention has shifted to the nonfarm payrolls report scheduled for release on Friday.
