Türkiye lifts 12-month installment limit on purchases

Türkiye's Ministry of Trade has amended regulations governing installment sales in retail trade.

Under the regulation published in the Official Gazette on October 15, 2026, the general 12-month installment limit for goods and services other than housing has been abolished. Special installment periods previously applied to categories such as electronics, furniture, household appliances, travel, and accommodation have also been repealed. The Ministry of Trade has been granted the authority to determine new installment periods and introduce additional restrictions.

The new regulation also covers the installment restructuring of debts after a sale and the postponement of payments. Decisions regarding installment periods will be announced on the ministry's official website. However, the amendment does not mean that consumers can make purchases with unlimited installments. Existing installment restrictions imposed by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) on credit card purchases will remain in effect.
