German inflation matches market expectations
Germany's final Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 3.3% year over year and 0.6% month over month.
Both figures matched market expectations and previously reported readings, indicating no surprises in the final inflation data. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which allows comparisons across European Union countries, also rose 3.3% annually and 0.6% monthly, in line with forecasts.
The figures suggest that price pressures persist in Germany, although the absence of surprises could limit the immediate impact on European Central Bank interest-rate expectations.
