German trade surplus narrows as exports decline
Germany's seasonally adjusted trade surplus came in at €19.5 billion, exceeding the €19 billion forecast but falling from the previous €21.3 billion.
The figures show that Germany maintained a trade surplus, although it narrowed compared with the previous period.
Monthly exports declined 0.8%, missing expectations for a 0.9% increase and matching the previous period's contraction. Imports rose 0.9% following a 5.7% decline, but remained below the 2.8% forecast.
Weak exports could raise concerns about Germany's external demand outlook.
