Gold gains support from Fed expectations
Gold rose as weak US employment data reduced expectations that the Fed will raise interest rates in October.
Spot gold gained 0.4% to $4,158.17, while US gold futures climbed 0.6% to $4,186.40.
After September nonfarm payrolls came in well below expectations, the probability of a Fed rate hike in October fell to 22% from 64% a week earlier. Markets are pricing in an 87% probability of a rate hike in December, while developments in the Middle East and the direction of oil prices remain closely watched for their impact on gold.
