Apple faces $5.7 billion patent penalty

A US jury ruled that Apple infringed two patents owned by Taction Technology involving Taptic Engine technology used in iPhones and Apple Watches.

The company was ordered to pay approximately $5.72 billion in damages.

Apple said it disagrees with the verdict and plans to appeal. While the jury found that the patent infringement was not willful, Apple maintains that it does not use any technology belonging to Taction.
