Europe’s natural gas storage levels raise alarm

Europe is entering the winter season with low natural gas inventories.

Gazprom Chairman Alexey Miller said natural gas storage facilities across European Union countries were 72% full as of October 1, with inventories 11.3 billion cubic meters lower than at the same time last year.

At Incukalns, the Baltic region’s only underground natural gas storage facility, the filling level fell to 49%, marking a record low for October 1. Miller said Europe is facing historically low natural gas inventories ahead of a challenging autumn-winter season.
