Schwarz and Bull form European AI alliance
French supercomputer manufacturer Bull and Schwarz Digits, the technology subsidiary of Lidl owner Schwarz Group, signed a preliminary agreement on November 3 to develop AI computing services operating under European jurisdiction.
Schwarz Digits will provide the services through its STACKIT cloud platform, while Bull will manufacture the equipment. The partners plan to co-design data centre servers and may eventually integrate SAP software. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The partnership could help European businesses and public institutions reduce their dependence on US-based cloud infrastructure. It is particularly relevant to data sovereignty and domestic control over AI computing capacity. However, the agreement remains preliminary, with no confirmed commercial launch date.
