UK four-year government bond yield rises to 4.945%
The yield on the United Kingdom's four-year government bond auction increased to 4.945%, up from 4.786% at the previous auction.
The 15.9-basis-point rise indicates higher borrowing costs for the UK government at this maturity.
Meanwhile, the bid-to-cover ratio, a key indicator of investor demand, increased from 3.237 to 3.415. The higher ratio suggests stronger demand despite rising yields.
Elevated borrowing costs could put pressure on public finances, while developments in the bond market may also influence expectations surrounding Bank of England (BoE) monetary policy.
