BIST 100 enters bear market
Selling pressure on Borsa Istanbul deepened amid the impact of investigations into alleged fund and stock manipulation.
The BIST 100 index has fallen 20% from its May 11 peak, technically entering a bear market. Recent investigations involving investment funds and capital market transactions have been closely watched amid the sharp market decline.
Following an instruction from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the State Supervisory Council (DDK) launched a review and inspection process into recent investment fund transactions in the capital markets. Authorities said the review aims to protect market confidence and transparency, safeguard investor rights, and identify the administrative and legal measures needed to prevent similar incidents.
