Bitcoin falls below $80,000

Selling pressure intensified across cryptocurrency markets at the start of the new week, with Bitcoin briefly falling below $80,000 on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Major cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum, XRP, and Solana, also recorded losses. Investors' retreat from risk assets ahead of the Federal Reserve's (Fed) interest rate decision, along with concerns surrounding artificial intelligence investments, deepened the downturn in the crypto market.

U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded combined net outflows of $772.4 million on Thursday and Friday. The sharp reversal followed inflows exceeding $1 billion earlier in the week, highlighting investors' increasingly cautious stance. Caroline Mauron, co-founder of Orbit Markets, noted that Bitcoin had remained relatively resilient to concerns over AI-related borrowing, while market attention shifted toward the upcoming Fed meeting and the subsequent U.S. midterm elections.
