Bitget hit by $352 million crypto theft
Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget said approximately $351.6 million was transferred without authorization from some of its wallets, prompting the platform to temporarily suspend withdrawals.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said user funds remain safe and that the entire loss will be covered by the Bitget User Protection Fund, which holds more than $464 million in assets.
Founded in 2018 and serving 120 million registered users, Bitget has suffered what is being described as one of the largest attacks on a centralized crypto exchange in 2026. The incident has renewed concerns over digital asset security following a series of high-value cyberattacks across the crypto industry.
