BofA comments on fund crisis and interest rates

Bank of America said the fund crisis in Türkiye has increased downside risks to economic activity but does not currently warrant faster or more aggressive monetary easing.

BofA economist Hande Küçük said the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) is expected to balance weakening demand with confidence in the Turkish lira and the financial system. Depending on external conditions and the reserve outlook, the bank maintained its forecast for a 100-basis-point rate cut in October, while expecting rates to remain unchanged in December.
