Bolat highlights trade wars and regional cooperation

Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said preferential trade agreements and regional cooperation blocs have become increasingly important amid rising protectionism and global trade wars.

Bolat noted that the world economy is going through a challenging period politically, geostrategically and economically, adding that Türkiye will continue to strengthen its foreign economic relations with all countries.

Bolat highlighted Türkiye’s 30-year Customs Union relationship with the European Union, noting that the EU remains the country’s largest trading partner. He said Türkiye currently has 24 free trade agreements and five preferential trade agreements with various countries, while trade with Africa has increased more than elevenfold.
