Stocks and gold fall as US dollar gains
Investment markets recorded significant losses during the week ending October 23, 2026.
The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul declined 5.16% to close at 11,116.99 points, while gram gold fell 4.18% to TL 6,370. The Turkish Republic gold coin dropped 3.34% to TL 41,880, and the quarter gold coin lost 3.37% to TL 10,520. In contrast, the US dollar rose 0.36% to TL 49.7060, while the euro edged up 0.03% to TL 55.7790.
The fund market also experienced losses. Investment funds declined 1.90% over the week, while pension funds fell 2.25%. Among investment fund categories, money market funds were the top performers, delivering a return of 0.62%. Overall, the week's market performance was marked by sharp declines in equities and gold, while foreign exchange rates posted modest gains.
