Cevdet Yılmaz reiterates single-digit inflation target
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz commented on the October inflation figures released on November 3, 2026.
Yılmaz noted that consumer prices rose 2.58% month over month, while annual inflation remained broadly stable at 29.77%. He stated that rising global energy prices, driven by geopolitical developments, have put pressure on domestic prices through higher production and logistics costs. Yılmaz also reported annual inflation of 27.7% in food and 16.7% in core goods, emphasizing that inflation in rents and services continues to decline.
Yılmaz stated that coordination among monetary, fiscal, and income policies is being strengthened to combat inflation. He outlined ongoing measures to improve agricultural productivity, diversify energy supplies, expand housing availability, and develop logistics infrastructure. Emphasizing that the primary objective of the government's economic program is to bring inflation back to single-digit levels, Yılmaz said the administration aims to ensure that improvements in price stability translate into lasting gains in citizens' purchasing power and living standards.
