China's foreign reserves edge higher
China's foreign-exchange reserves rose to $3.4052 trillion at the end of October, up $4.9 billion or 0.14% from $3.4003 trillion in September.
The result was slightly below market expectations of approximately $3.41 trillion. The figures were released on November 7.
The modest increase reflects the combined effects of currency translation and changes in global asset valuations during a month when the dollar index strengthened. Reserves remaining above $3.4 trillion support China's external financial buffers, while the yuan and PBOC liquidity measures remain important market considerations.
