China's CXMT plans advanced AI memory output

Chinese chipmaker CXMT plans limited production of HBM3E memory used in AI processors. Sources said current manufacturing yields are only 20–30%, with initial production potentially beginning within the next two months.

The move reflects China's efforts to build domestic chip supply under US export restrictions. However, low yields could limit CXMT's ability to challenge established suppliers such as SK Hynix, Samsung and Micron in the near term. CXMT has not publicly confirmed the reported plan.
