Fed signals potential further rate hikes

San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly indicated that additional interest rate increases may be necessary as inflation in the United States remains elevated.

Emphasizing that the fight against inflation is not yet over, Daly stated that future monetary policy decisions would depend on economic data. Her remarks suggested that the Federal Reserve (Fed) could maintain its restrictive monetary policy stance in the coming period.

In an interview with CNBC, Daly said it was too early to make a definitive assessment of the timing or size of potential interest rate increases. She emphasized that decisions should be made gradually and cautiously due to volatility in the global economy. Daly also commented on the sell-off in technology stocks amid concerns surrounding artificial intelligence investments, describing the repricing of equities as painful but orderly.
