Pensioners secure 8.29% increase ahead of January

Following the release of October 2026 inflation data by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the outlook for salary and pension increases scheduled for January 2027 has become clearer for millions of retirees and public employees.

Consumer prices rose 2.58% in October, while annual inflation reached 29.77%. Cumulative inflation for the four-month period from July through October stood at 8.29%, establishing a minimum increase of 8.29% for Social Security Institution (SSK) and Bağ-Kur pensioners ahead of the January adjustment.

For civil servants and retired public employees, salary and pension increases will be calculated by combining collectively agreed pay raises with inflation adjustments. With four-month inflation reaching 8.29%, an inflation differential has also emerged for these groups. However, the final increase rates will be determined after the release of November and December inflation figures. As a result, inflation data for the final two months of 2026 will play a decisive role in determining salary and pension adjustments for January 2027.
