Eurozone inflation reaches 3.8% as ECB warns of risks
According to ECB President Christine Lagarde's official statement published on October 17, annual eurozone inflation reached 3.8% in September.
Higher energy prices were the main driver, alongside food and services inflation, while core inflation increased to 2.5%.
The ECB's September projections forecast eurozone growth of 0.9% in 2026 and 1.4% in 2027. Energy-related price pressures could keep inflation above target into the first half of 2027, making interest-rate expectations increasingly important for European bond markets and the euro.
