Fed to raise thresholds for bank supervision
The Fed is reportedly preparing to raise the asset thresholds that trigger stricter supervision for large banks.
Under the plan, thresholds that subject banks to tougher rules on balance sheets, liquidity and capital requirements could be recalibrated to account for inflation and economic growth.
The Fed is expected to unveil its proposed changes later this year, although the central bank has not commented on the matter. US Bancorp pointed to the growth of the US economy in recent years, saying updated regulations could increase banks’ lending capacity and strengthen competition in the sector.
