Bank of France says ECB intervention is not needed

Bank of France Governor Emmanuel Moulin said France's economic situation is serious but does not require intervention from the European Central Bank under current conditions.

Moulin said the solution should come from France's own fiscal policy rather than Frankfurt.

France's borrowing costs have risen sharply during the global bond selloff, while the government aims to reduce the budget deficit from 5.4% of GDP in 2026 to 5% in its 2027 budget.

Moulin's comments signal that pressure in the bond market should be addressed by strengthening fiscal discipline rather than relying on ECB support.
