France annual inflation rises to 3.1%
France's non-seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 3.1% year over year, exceeding market expectations of 3.0%.
Annual inflation accelerated from the previous reading of 3.0%, indicating a modest increase in price pressures.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.3%, matching market forecasts, following a 0.3% increase in the previous period. The final Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose 3.4% annually, in line with expectations and the previous reading.
The figures suggest that annual inflation pressures persist despite the monthly price decline and could remain relevant to the European Central Bank's (ECB) monetary policy outlook.
