Türkiye signals new oil discovery in Gabar

Türkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, said oil exploration and production activities in Gabar are continuing, signaling that a new discovery could be announced soon.

Speaking at Russian Energy Week in Moscow, Bayraktar emphasized that Türkiye remains committed to oil and natural gas exploration both onshore and offshore. He stated that Türkiye has not experienced energy supply security problems despite global energy crises, highlighting the country's priority of diversifying energy resources and supplier countries.

Addressing natural gas production in the Black Sea, Bayraktar announced that annual output at the Sakarya Gas Field has reached 7.5 billion cubic meters, with plans to quadruple production by 2028. He also stated that the first reactor of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is expected to become operational within the next few months. Emphasizing continued energy cooperation with Russia, Bayraktar noted that the US-Russia diesel supply agreement is also significant for Türkiye's energy supply security.
