Goldman Sachs forecasts $1.2 trillion in AI spending
U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs expects capital expenditures by major technology and cloud computing companies to reach $1.2 trillion in 2027.
According to the bank's forecast, investments by these companies, projected to total approximately $800 billion in 2026, are expected to increase significantly next year. Spending on data centers, advanced semiconductors, high-capacity servers, and artificial intelligence infrastructure is expected to be among the primary drivers of this growth.
Goldman Sachs highlighted that rising AI investments could influence corporate profitability in the technology sector and the performance of U.S. equity markets. However, elevated capital expenditures could put pressure on companies' cash flows in the short term, while the pace at which these investments translate into revenue and profits will be a key factor for investors. Data center investments by major technology companies, including Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta, are being closely monitored for their implications for global semiconductor demand and the future growth of the AI industry.
