Confidence declines in Türkiye's services sector
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) released its sectoral confidence indices for October 2026.
The seasonally adjusted confidence index declined by 2.4% month over month in the services sector, while increasing by 1.1% in retail trade and 0.4% in construction. The figures revealed diverging expectations for economic activity across sectors.
The decline in services confidence indicates weakening sentiment among businesses operating in a sector that accounts for a significant share of economic activity, while modest increases in retail trade and construction stood out. Sectoral confidence indices are closely monitored as leading indicators of economic growth because they reflect businesses' assessments of current operating conditions and expectations for the coming period.
