IMF: Türkiye ranks among leaders in fiscal transparency

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that Türkiye has made significant progress in fiscal transparency over the past decade.

According to the IMF's Fiscal Transparency Evaluation report, Türkiye ranked among the highest-performing countries in public financial management improvements among approximately 40 countries that have completed the assessment. The comparison included countries such as the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Austria, and Portugal.

The report highlighted improvements in Türkiye's fiscal statistics, the implementation of performance-based program budgeting, and reforms aligned with international public sector accounting standards as key drivers of progress. The IMF recalled that its initial assessment in 2000 identified significant shortcomings in budget procedures and fiscal risk disclosures, while the 2015 review noted improvements in the legal framework and the scope of fiscal reporting. The latest evaluation emphasized that the progress achieved reflects more than two decades of institutional transformation.
