IMF warns of global economic risks
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva warned that the global economy faces a “cocktail of risks” stemming from artificial intelligence investment, high energy prices and record debt levels.
Georgieva said energy and food shocks, along with AI investment, tariffs, defense spending and high public debt, could intensify inflationary pressures.
With total global debt exceeding $365 trillion, governments were urged to maintain fiscal discipline, while central banks were advised to pursue cautious monetary policy.
