UK Plans Duty on Chinese Titanium Dioxide

Britain's Trade Remedies Authority recommended new anti-dumping duties on imports of rutile titanium dioxide from China.

The authority found that the product, used in paint and paper production, was being dumped in Britain and posed an imminent threat of injury to domestic production.

The proposal will be opened for feedback before a final recommendation, with Britain's business minister making the final decision. The move creates the prospect of a new protectionist measure in UK-China trade policy, while tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles also remain under review.
