UK introduces founder tax relief
The UK government announced a new capital gains tax relief for company founders on October 28. Eligible founders will benefit from a 10% tax rate on lifetime gains of up to £10 million. The measure is intended to encourage entrepreneurs to remain in Britain and reinvest proceeds from successful businesses.
The incentive could strengthen the startup ecosystem and encourage reinvestment following company sales. It may also improve Britain's competitiveness in attracting founders. However, eligibility requirements and implementation details still need clarification.
