UK 10-year bond yield declines

The yield on the United Kingdom's 10-year government bond auction fell to 5.268%, down from 5.418% at the previous auction.

The 15-basis-point decline indicated lower long-term government borrowing costs.

Meanwhile, the bid-to-cover ratio, a measure of auction demand, declined to 3.38 from 3.61. Despite the decrease, bids exceeding the amount of bonds offered by 3.38 times suggested that demand remained relatively strong. The results could influence the UK bond market and expectations for Bank of England (BoE) interest-rate policy.
