Monthly inflation accelerates in Istanbul

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) released its Istanbul Consumer Price Index data for October 2026.

Retail prices in Istanbul increased by 2.47% in October, accelerating from the 2.11% rise recorded in September. Meanwhile, annual inflation declined from 33.55% to 32.47%. The figures indicate that although monthly price increases gained momentum, annual inflation continued to ease.

According to ITO data, clothing and footwear recorded the largest monthly price increase in October, rising 10.60%. This was followed by recreation and culture at 5.32%, communications at 5.05%, and food and non-alcoholic beverages at 2.58%. Wholesale prices increased by 1.20% month over month and 25.51% year over year. Seasonal factors, including the start of the winter clothing season and changes in food prices, were among the main drivers of monthly inflation.
