Swiss ZEW expectations turn negative
Switzerland's ZEW economic expectations index fell to -15.3, sharply below the previous reading of 2.6. The 17.9-point decline indicated a significant deterioration in expectations for the country's economic outlook.
The index's move from positive to negative territory suggested growing pessimism about Switzerland's future economic performance. Weaker economic expectations could strengthen the case for a more accommodative monetary policy stance by the Swiss National Bank (SNB), potentially putting pressure on the Swiss franc.
