Italy producer inflation accelerates
Italy's Producer Price Index (PPI) increased 2.9% month over month, accelerating from the previous 2.4% rise.
The stronger monthly increase pointed to growing price pressures across the country's industrial sector.
Annual producer inflation climbed from 10.9% to 13.8%. Continued increases in producer prices could intensify inflationary pressures if businesses pass higher costs on to consumers. The figures may influence the Eurozone's inflation outlook and expectations for European Central Bank (ECB) interest-rate policy.
