J.P. Morgan says it is not withdrawing from Türkiye
J.P. Morgan Menkul Değerler A.Ş. clarified that its planned application to the Capital Markets Board of Türkiye (CMB) to revoke its brokerage license does not mean the group is withdrawing from Türkiye.
The company stated that it has not conducted any capital market activities or provided investment services to clients since July 2015. The license revocation process was initiated to align the legal status of the long-inactive brokerage firm with its current operations. The company emphasized that the decision is unrelated to recent developments in Türkiye.
The statement explained that J.P. Morgan Menkul Değerler and the Istanbul branch of JPMorgan Chase Bank are legally independent entities, and that the license revocation applies only to the brokerage firm. JPMorgan's Istanbul branch will continue its banking operations without interruption and has also decided to expand its activities in Türkiye. The necessary preparations are being carried out in coordination with the relevant regulatory authorities. J.P. Morgan thus confirmed that the brokerage license revocation process will not affect the group's other operations in Türkiye.
