JPMorgan earnings deliver mixed results
US banking giant JPMorgan Chase reported mixed third-quarter financial results, with some key figures exceeding market expectations while others fell short.
The bank's net interest income reached $27.15 billion, beating estimates, while equity trading revenue totaled $4.95 billion. However, revenue from fixed-income and currency trading came in at $5.37 billion, and investment banking revenue stood at $3.10 billion, both below market forecasts.
The bank's total deposits rose to $2.78 trillion, while its loan portfolio expanded to $1.58 trillion. Lower-than-expected credit losses were among the positive highlights of the earnings report. JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon said strong growth in credit card operations continued, while also noting that the bank reduced its share buybacks during the third quarter.
