SME loan growth limit raised

The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) has introduced new measures for SME loans.

The growth limit for SME lending was raised from 4.5% to 5%, while blocked reserve requirement ratios for Turkish lira deposits were reduced. Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said the macroprudential measures would provide support to both the financial system and the real economy.

Şimşek said the measures would strengthen banks’ liquidity management while making it easier for SMEs to access financing. He emphasized that the economic administration would continue its targeted and selective approach while taking the disinflation process into account.
