Mistral announces new Large 4 AI model
French Mistral AI unveiled its new Large 4 artificial intelligence model, also known as “Le Chonk.”
The company said the model outperforms Chinese open-weight models in some areas, including cybersecurity, while Large 4 can also be used for tasks such as coding, finance, geospatial analysis and chip design.
The model will be fully released to the public on October 27, with limited early access provided beforehand to cybersecurity experts and government entities. Mistral, which has raised about €3 billion in funding, is positioning the model trained on its own infrastructure as a European alternative to U.S. and Chinese rivals.
