Musk promises SpaceX shares to 72 million children
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced that he plans to give one of his SpaceX shares to every child in the United States in 2027.
In a post on social media platform X, Musk described the initiative as the first of many steps to come. The announcement raised the prospect of millions of American children becoming direct shareholders in SpaceX.
According to Bloomberg data, SpaceX has approximately 8.1 billion shares outstanding, with its share price standing at $146 as of October 16. If all approximately 72 million children in the United States are included in the program, the total market value of the distributed shares could reach around $10.5 billion. However, Musk has not yet provided details on how the shares would be distributed, potential age restrictions, or the conditions of the initiative.
