Nvidia loses share in China's AI chip market
Nvidia's share of China's data-center AI accelerator market fell to 34% in the first half of 2026, according to IDC data.
A Reuters report published on October 13, 2026, at 02:33 UTC said Nvidia's shipments to China declined 44% year over year to 678,000 units. Huawei shipped 572,000 units, capturing 28% of the market. These figures describe the first half of the year, not sales recorded today.
US export restrictions on advanced chips and China's support for domestic alternatives are reshaping competition. IDC reported that shipments of non-GPU AI accelerators increased by approximately 80%. The findings are significant for Nvidia's growth prospects in China, although a direct impact on US share prices has not yet been verified.
