Russia extends diesel export ban
The Russian government has extended its ban on exports of diesel, marine fuel, and gas oil until January 31, 2027, in an effort to maintain supply stability in the domestic fuel market.
The restriction, previously scheduled to expire on October 31, also applies to exports by direct producers. The decision reportedly follows production and supply disruptions caused by Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries.
In Russia, numerous refineries have been taken offline for maintenance following the attacks, prompting restrictions on fuel sales in certain regions. Meanwhile, following an agreement reached with the United States on October 9, Russia partially eased its diesel export ban on October 10, initially allowing 500,000 metric tons of fuel to be shipped to global markets. The latest decision could further tighten global diesel supplies and place upward pressure on international fuel prices.
