Şimşek: Türkiye ranks among leaders in fiscal transparency

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek commented on the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) latest Fiscal Transparency Evaluation.

Highlighting Türkiye's significant progress in fiscal transparency, Şimşek stated that the country ranks among the highest-performing nations in a group of approximately 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Austria, and Portugal.

Şimşek explained that while Türkiye had achieved good or advanced practice standards in approximately half of the principles under the IMF's Fiscal Transparency Code in the 2015 assessment, that proportion has now increased to two-thirds. Emphasizing that this progress reflects more than two decades of institutional transformation, Şimşek stated that structural reforms are continuing to enhance transparency in fiscal statistics, budget management, fiscal risks, and accountability.
