Şimşek comments on inflation outlook
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said annual inflation fell to 29.73% in September, dropping below 30% for the first time since November 2021.
Şimşek emphasized that the disinflation process has become broad-based, excluding transportation.
Şimşek said annual food inflation declined to 27.6%, while rent inflation fell to 41.3%. Citing calculations by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), he said inflation would have been 7 percentage points lower this year without the war. He added that a slowdown in services inflation, particularly rents and education, is expected to support disinflation in 2027.
