Şimşek signals payments for fund investors

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek made new statements regarding the ongoing process involving troubled investment funds.

Şimşek said relevant institutions are continuing to work in coordination and that necessary steps are being taken to ensure investors receive the highest possible payments as quickly as possible. He added that the Ministry of Justice is also pursuing the legal process to protect investor rights and hold those responsible accountable.

Şimşek said the Turkish economy remains resilient despite pressure from global conditions and the war. He stated that the current account deficit stands at 2.6% of GDP, the budget deficit at around 3%, and public debt at 22% of GDP. Şimşek said strengthened macroeconomic fundamentals and measures taken by authorities would help limit the impact of recent developments on the financial system and real economy, adding that capital markets would be made stronger, healthier and more resilient.
