S&P leaves Türkiye's credit rating unchanged

International credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings did not publish a new report on Türkiye on October 16, 2026, a date listed in its sovereign rating review calendar.

As a result, Türkiye's long-term local and foreign currency credit ratings remained at BB-, while its short-term rating stayed at B, with a stable outlook. Rating agencies are not required to publish assessments on every date included in their review calendars.

S&P last upgraded Türkiye's credit rating to BB- on November 1, 2024, and reaffirmed both the rating and stable outlook in its April 2026 assessment. Earlier in October, S&P's Türkiye analyst Karen Vartapetov stated that the agency did not expect downward pressure on the country's credit rating as long as the investment fund investigation did not spread to the broader financial system. With no new report published, Türkiye's existing credit ratings and outlook remain unchanged.
