Agricultural costs rise more than 30% in Türkiye

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) released its Agricultural Input Price Index (Agriculture-IPI) data for August on October 19, 2026.

According to the figures, agricultural production costs increased by 3.41% month over month and 30.28% year over year. The index rose 21.15% since the beginning of the year and 33.05% based on twelve-month averages.

Among the main categories, prices of goods and services used in agriculture increased by 31.63% annually, while prices of goods and services contributing to agricultural investment rose by 22.16%. Energy and lubricants recorded the highest annual increase at 43.14%, with prices in this category rising 9.58% on a monthly basis.

The sharp increase in energy costs, in particular, indicates that price pressures on agricultural production remain elevated. The potential impact of rising input costs on food prices will be closely monitored in the coming period.
