CBRT reserves expected to fall by $6.8 billion

The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye's (CBRT) total reserves are estimated to have declined by approximately $6.8 billion to $162.3 billion in the week ending October 23.

According to an analysis by QNB economists, total foreign exchange sales following the investment fund crisis reached $16.1 billion, with sales in the latest week estimated at $5.7 billion. The continued decline suggests that total reserves have fallen by approximately $16.4 billion from the $178.7 billion recorded on September 11.

The decline in reserves is being closely monitored for its implications for foreign exchange market liquidity and the CBRT's market interventions. Calculations based on the central bank's analytical balance sheet data indicate that reserves may have decreased for a second consecutive week. However, the estimated $162.3 billion figure has not yet been confirmed by official weekly reserve statistics. Due to the Republic Day holiday, the CBRT is expected to release the relevant data on Monday, November 2.
